I have been out of Triathlon for a month or so now resting my knee after I had to pull up in a couple of races. It was really disappointing as I was on track for top 15 placing in the Blenheim Palace Triathlon and the Leeds ITU Triathlon, but that’s growing for you!
I have been keeping up my training and decided as I could not race in the Super Series at Eton, I would compete in the South West Open Water Championships in Weymouth. I raced in this last year as part of my training to swim the English Channel so had a good idea of what it would be like.
This year I competed in the 3km race and as you can see from the picture in brilliant conditions. The race went really well and I was the first U15 girl to finish for Somerset and second in the region. This mean I have qualified to compete in the National Open Water Championships in Sheffield at the end of this month which I am really pleased about.
So I have a couple of weeks of training time before I go back to triathlon at Hetton, as the Super Series visits the Norther East. This will be a challenging day, as although the races are shorter, I will compete in two individual races and a team relay all in one day. Then, home for a week of rest and some training before venturing North for the National Open Water Championships in Sheffield.
