My triathlon season is now starting to gain pace with my first Tri of the year at Burnham last weekend. This year I race in the youth category which means a bit of a jump in race distance which makes it more challenging.
There is no separate race for youths and juniors at the Burnham Super Sprint we race together with all the various male and female age groups which makes for a fun racing. I had a really good swim time which meant I was one of the last in the pool in this time trial style triathlon making for a lonely race.
I was really pleased with my swim time which was the fastest female time and 5th fastest out of all competitors in the 91 strong line up. The bike leg was 10km up and down the sea front which makes for a nice fast ride. After dropping off the bike in transition I started the 2.5km beach run, which felt like it was never going to finish. However come the end looking at the results I was pleased to see I had recorded the fastest youth female finish time and was fourth fastest of all females just missing out on 3rd by 1 second.
This weekend I am back with the Southwest Academy for the last training event of the season at Bath University which your support has helped with. The weekend will be a mix of training in the three disciplines but also sessions on preparing for racing in the Elite British Super Series, which I am excited about. My first race in this series is just in a couple of weeks in Llanelli followed by travelling to Leeds in June to race in the Super Series support race as part of the ITU World Triathlon Championships.
