It’s been a busy summer of rugby for Jessica. At the beginning of July she was selected for England U18 women’s 7s team to play in the inaugural Home Nations 7s tournament in Edinburgh.
This was quickly followed by a follow up tournament in Birmingham where the Home Nations came together for a second weekend of rugby. The weather was glorious on both occasions and Ireland ran out the winner of both encounters, with England a very strong second.
August brought further International selection, this time for England U20 women. At the age of just 17 this was an enormous honour and Jessica was immensely proud to join the squad on tour to Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada where they played against both the Canadian U20 and the USA U20 in the first ever Tri-Nations Championship. Jess played in two of the three matches played there and England were victorious at the end of the series, bringing the beautiful trophy home to the UK.
As we move into autumn, Jess will be playing the season for Gloucester Hartpury Ladies in the Tyrell’s Premiership whilst continuing to study at Hartpury College. Selection camp for England U20 is also approaching in early October, when Jess will yet again be hoping to demonstrate her ability and secure a place in the squad.
