TS5C Sponsored Athlete
The flagship fund has already benefited over 130 young athletes from Somerset in a variety of sports. TS5C sponsored athletes have already achieved significant results at both County and National level, and have competed for Team GB in international competitions.

On the 25th of February 2018, the Axbridge community, Mayor and Town Council along with dignitaries from Somerset met at the Church in the centre of the Town on a beautifully clear sky day to celebrate the achievements of Year 12 Kings of Wessex student Jamie Harris and others.

Tim Hawkins the Rector of Axbridge led a service themed appropriately around the sea, recognising Jamie's international sailing success.

The award were presented by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Brigadier Tom Lang, who also had a connection with the sea with his background in the Royal Marines.

The Town Councils new policy of recognising youth achievements within these awards was exemplified by the wonderful inclusion of the Cheddar Valley Voices and Brass ensemble by the Cheddar Valley Brass Club, including many musically talented young people as well as Abigail Campbell with her Violin Solo.

On receiving his award Jamie made speeches thanking all those who had helped, Jamie thanked TS5C especially.

Tea and delicious cakes were provided in the Town Hall and served by the Girl Guides.

Jamie said “I am extremely honoured and proud to receive this award and grateful for all the support I have received.”
