TS5C Sponsored Athlete
The flagship fund has already benefited over 130 young athletes from Somerset in a variety of sports. TS5C sponsored athletes have already achieved significant results at both County and National level, and have competed for Team GB in international competitions.

Over this period I've been trying to maintain some sort of schedule and trying to keep levels of fitness up, although it is not surprisingl that it is difficult to recapture swimming training without a pool.

My big news is that I've been added to the Swim England Performance squad for the 2019/20 season. This selection follows performances in the summer, where I became National Champion in the 400m individual medley at the British Summer Nationals.

This weekend was the annual BUCS nationals in Sheffield, which sees all university athletes compete. I swam in both the 200 and 400 individual medley events, as well as the 200 breaststroke and the medley relay, in which I swam the breaststroke leg.

As I am now living at university in Bath, I do not have much news, although recently I competed at BUCS, which is the inter university competition for swimming. Here I swam in the 200 butterfly, backstroke and individual medley. I made finals in all of these events, winning gold in the 400 individual medley, and finishing 4th in the 200 backstroke.

This summer I have been to both European juniors, and British nationals.

European Juniors: Following selection, after the British championships in April, at the end of June, I travelled to Netanya, Israel with British Swimming for the European Junior Swimming Championships. I competed in 4 events, the 200 and 400 individual medley, as well as the 200 breastroke and backstroke.

Jacob has just competeed in the British Swimming Championships in Sheffield. He swam personal bests in both the 100 breastroke and backstroke on the first two days, making the junior final in the backstroke. He also made the junior final in the 200 backstroke and individual medley, finishing fourth in both.

In December, Jacob went to Sheffield to compete in the ASA Winter Championships. He qualified to swim in 8 events but chose to compete in 6 of those over the four day competition.

I qualified for 8 races and chose to swim 6 of these - 1 on each of the days of the competition. I competed in the 100 and 200 backstroke and breaststroke as well as the 200 and 400 IM events.

On the first two days of the competition I swam the two 100 events, improving best times in both events and making the final in the backstroke event.

Last week I competed in Glasgow for the 2016 British swimming championships.

I swam in 6 events making junior finals in two events, 200 butterfly and 200 IM, finishing 2nd in the IM. I also made the target Tokyo (17-20) final in the 200 backstroke and 400 IM finishing 3rd in the 400.
