January started with toughening up my legs to deal with the endurance aspect of triathlon by taking part in the cross country season. After progressing through County and Regional qualification races, I was thrilled to qualify as part of the Somerset Team to participate at the English Schools’ Cross Country Championships in Leeds.
After racing we travelled home as the snow was starting to fall and early the following morning we made our way in poor conditions to the National Schools’ Biathlon final at Crystal Palace. Despite being weary from my run and travelling I was happy to achieve a 4th place finish.
On 14th & 15th April I travelled to Loughborough University to take part in British Triathlon assessment weekend. I am now in the Youth Age Group which covers triathletes born 2002/2003. The assessment ranks triathletes across a 400m swim 10k bike and 2.5k run. The top 50 out of the 97 entrants would receive a race place at the Super Series National triathlons. I was born 2003 and had my best race ever and am very pleased to have been ranked 15th overall which secures me definite race places for this year.
The first race of this series is in LLanelli in May and I am training hard for this.
Since the assessment I took part in the Burnham on Sea Triathlon which was mixed age group from Youth to adults. I came 4th overall and 1st in my age group.
I am looking forward to experiencing and competing in the National Series and would like to thank TS5C for their continued support which enables me to race at this level.
