TS5C Sponsored Athlete
The flagship fund has already benefited over 130 young athletes from Somerset in a variety of sports. TS5C sponsored athletes have already achieved significant results at both County and National level, and have competed for Team GB in international competitions.

TS5C Supported Siblings Jamie and Bettine Harris have been selected to represent Great Britain at the International 420 World Championships to be held in Newport Rhode Island this August.

The worlds will take place over two weeks and the siblings will race against teams from nations around the globe.

Jamie and Bettine Harris who are honoured to be supported by TS5C will both be crewing in the technically demanding International 420 dinghy. Jamie will be sailing with Tom Collyer and Bettine with Megan Ferguson.

They have all just returned from the European Championships in Portugal where they gained valuable experience that they can take forward with them to the Worlds. The event took place in Sesimbra and was sailed in “champagne conditions”. Jamie competed in the 470 Olympic Class Dinghy against many international full-time sailors and racing against the best certainly improved his crewing skills. Bettine experienced her first major International event in a 420 and her first event without parents.

Following a jam packed summer, Jamie and Bettine will join forces and sail together at the RS200 Nationals in Weymouth which they are both looking forward to as they began their double handed sailing career in a boat together.
