Injuries for the previous 2 seasons has side lined me from competing, but I have had a brief indoor season through January/February which has allowed me to see where I am physically and mentally.
My previous encounter with the 60m was back in 2014 when I ran a time of 6.85 seconds. Entering my first competition on January 10th in Cardiff, I was free of worry and anxiety as there wasn't any pressure for me to do well. All I wanted to do was finish the race... I did that and more!
I came through with a personal best of 6.78! Having ran a personal best in my first outing in nearly 2 years was a big shock to myself and my family as the persistence and hard work in the gym and on the track during my recovery and return has paid off.
I competed again in Cardiff 2 weeks later and once again I ran a time of 6.78 seconds over the 60m! This was reassuring as now I know the first time was not a "fluke", but I really have made a comeback which no one thought I would!
This coming summer is where I can really express my talents over the 100m. I'm not setting myself any competition goals, but I am challenging myself to be one of the best in the u23 age group and senior!
My brief indoor season and personal best time of 6.78 seconds has ranked me as follows:
South West, England Senior - 2nd
South West, England u23 - 1st
British u23 - 11th
