TS5C is delighted to announce that one of its young athletes, swimmer Cameron Kurle, has been selected for the Team GB Olympic swimming squad for the Rio 2016 Games.
17 year old Cameron, from Glastonbury, is thrilled: “Thank you TS5C for your continued support. The path to succeeding is never easy and without my friends, family and coaches creating such a positive environment I would never have reached the levels I have. The strength of support you receive is what pushes you that little bit extra.”
“We are so pleased for him,” says TS5C chairman, Alan Gloak. “It is fantastic to be able to play a small part towards him fulfilling his sporting potential.”
Cameron is the first TS5C athlete to represent Team GB at the Olympics. “We set up the sports charity in 2007 in the lead up to the 2012 London Games,” continues Alan. “Looking at the costings and level of commitment it would take for the county’s young athletes to compete at that level, we knew that additional support was going to be necessary. We provide grants for some really talented athletes but, realistically, we have had our sights set on the 2020 games so it is absolutely fantastic that Cameron has made it to this year’s games. We wish him every luck.”
